Warriors Competitive Baseball Program: Tradition, Talent, Triumph

For over half a century, the Orland Youth Association (OYA) has been steadfastly dedicated to nurturing baseball enthusiasts in Orland Park, fostering not just skills but also passion for the game. We take immense pride in our adaptive approach that consistently addresses the evolving needs of our Orland Park community and the broader baseball fraternity.

The OYA Competitive Development Program: Elevating Aspirations

Warriors Competitive Baseball serves as the beacon for those players aspiring to transcend beyond the traditional recreational avenues. Established in 2010, this program harmonizes three pivotal aspects:

  • Family-Centric Approach: We believe baseball should amplify family bonds, not strain them. Our program is constructed keeping in mind the dynamic needs of modern families, ensuring they can cherish the game together without compromise.

  • Affordable Excellence: Quality shouldn’t be a luxury. We aim to make top-tier baseball training and competition accessible, ensuring players get premium exposure without an exorbitant price tag.

  • Emphasis on Development: At Warriors, the game isn't just about winning. It's about growth, learning, and refinement. Our tailored programs cater to individual player needs, focusing on holistic development both on and off the field.

Warriors Teams: A Spectrum of Opportunities

Our Warriors family has burgeoned over the years. Starting with 11 distinct teams spanning age groups from 8 to 14, we've consistently expanded our reach, adapting to the proficiencies and aspirations of our players. We offer both full-time and part-time teams, participating in diverse leagues and tournaments befitting each squad's unique composition.

Orland Park's Baseball Legacy: Rooted in Values

While we consistently aim for the stars, our ethos remains grounded. Our overarching objective with the Warriors program is to furnish a balanced, value-driven alternative where Orland Park's youth can chase their baseball dreams in a conducive, character-building environment. A haven where sportsmanship isn't just taught but is lived, every single day.

OYA Competitive Development Program: The Pillars of Our Philosophy

1. Sportsmanship Above All:**
Our program prioritizes good sportsmanship. The fundamental OYA standards of conduct apply to both players and parents for every game. The Competitive Committee of the OYA Board of Directors ensures the enforcement of these standards.

2. Transparent Selection Process:**
We host open tryouts led by team managers and independent evaluators. Our aim is to accommodate every interested and qualified player. Assistant coaches are chosen after the tryouts, while managers and coaches are selected based on:

  • Ability to mentor and instruct players.
  • Profound baseball knowledge.
  • Dedication and previous involvement with the OYA.

3. Optimal Experience at Affordable Rates:**
Our objective is to ensure players receive a top-notch baseball experience without hefty fees.

4. Prioritizing Player Health:**
We strictly adhere to pitch counts and ensure mandatory rest periods for pitchers.

5. Suitable Game Frequency:**
We ensure an age-appropriate number of games/scrimmages each season, including tournament participation.

6. Year-Long Dedication with Flexibility:**
While we expect a commitment throughout the year, we respect and encourage players to engage in other sports during off-seasons.

7. Thoughtful Scheduling:**
All game and scrimmage schedules are vetted by the Competitive Committee. We typically maintain a week-long break between tournaments.

8. Balanced Training Regime:**
Even during the season, we ensure regular practice sessions, typically maintaining a ratio of one practice for every two games/scrimmages. On average, players will engage in baseball activities no more than 5 days a week, barring select tournament weeks.

9. Localized Play:**
We limit travel to ensure convenience. Most games are within a 30-minute drive radius. Generally, eligibility is confined to Orland Park residents and those active in OYA recreational programs.

10. A Wholesome Experience:**
We strive for an environment that values each player, parent, and family member. At the heart of it all, we remember that baseball is a game and should always be a source of joy. Our season typically concludes around July 15th, allowing families to enjoy their summer vacations.
