Welcome to Orland Youth Association - Uniting Youth Sports in Orland Park

At Orland Youth Association (OYA), we're more than just a sports organization - we're a community dedicated to empowering youth through athletics. As the premier youth sports destination in Orland Park, we offer a wide range of athletic opportunities for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels.

Our Comprehensive Offerings: Whether your child is just starting out or looking to take their skills to the next level, OYA has something for everyone. Our programs include:
    • In-House Leagues: Join us for exciting in-house leagues in baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball. These leagues provide a fun and engaging environment for children to compete, learn, and build friendships.

    • Competitive Development Programs: For athletes seeking more competitive play, our Competitive Development Programs offer tailored opportunities in baseball, basketball, and softball. We match each player's talent and aspirations with the right level of competition.

Our Commitment to Community: At OYA, we're committed to serving the needs and interests of our community. We continuously seek feedback and input from our members to ensure we're offering the sports and programs that matter most to you. Have a suggestion for a new sport or program? We want to hear from you! Reach out to us at info@orlandyouthassociation.org.

One Organization, One Goal: Formerly OYA Boys and OYA Girls, we're proud to unite under the OYA banner to provide a more diverse range of sports for our community. While some may still remember us as separate entities, we're excited to clarify that we are now one cohesive organization committed to the growth and development of all youth athletes in Orland Park.

Join Our Thriving Sports Family: At OYA, every child is encouraged to play, grow, and excel - both on and off the field. We're passionate about cheering on the achievements of our young athletes and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all.

WHEN TO CHOOSE TRAVEL SPORTS VS. REC SPORTS FOR YOUR CHILD

Understanding Travel Sports: Travel sports are designed for children who are passionate about their sport, possess advanced skills, and are ready for a higher level of competition. These programs demand a significant commitment of time and energy, including frequent practices, weekend tournaments, and often travel to compete against teams from other regions. Travel sports are ideal for athletes who are dedicated to their sport and looking to challenge themselves against strong competition.

Understanding Rec Sports: Recreational (Rec) sports offer a more relaxed and inclusive environment, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and fun. These leagues are perfect for children who enjoy the sport but may not be ready or interested in the intense commitment required by travel teams. Rec sports provide a balanced schedule, typically involving one or two practices and games per week, allowing kids to explore other activities, enjoy free time, and participate in multiple sports without overwhelming time demands.

    When to Choose Travel Sports:

    • Your child shows a strong interest and commitment to a specific sport.
    • They have the skill level and drive to compete at a higher level.
    • Your family can accommodate the time and financial commitments required for travel sports.

    When to Choose Rec Sports:

    • Your child is trying out a new sport or plays multiple sports.
    • They enjoy sports but prefer a lower-pressure environment.
    • Your family needs a schedule that is more flexible and less demanding.

Balancing Multiple Sports: If your child is involved in multiple travel sports, consider balancing their schedule with rec sports. Rec leagues provide the opportunity to stay active and engaged in a sport they love without the intense commitment, offering them time to rest, pursue other interests, and maintain a healthy balance between sports and other aspects of life.

Choosing the right level of competition for your child is essential for their development and enjoyment of the sport. Encourage them to have fun, develop their skills, and most importantly, enjoy their athletic journey.
